Louis Erard

In the Louis Erard watches story, 1893 marked the birth of Mr. Louis Erard, future founder of the Louis Erard watch brand.

The Louis Erard & André Perret watchmaking school and casing factory were created in 1929 in La Chaux-de-Fonds. Two years later, the first Louis Erard watches were produced under the name of their founder, while it was not until 1956 that the manufacture obtained authorization to manufacture its own movements, a privilege reserved only for the elite of Swiss watchmaking.

In 1980, Louis Erard added key functions to the famous Peseux 7001 movement, including a power reserve indicator and a regulator. This improvement will remain the exclusivity of the brand and these two complications united on the same caliber will give birth to the iconic model that we still appreciate today.

In recent years, Louis Erard has earned another reputation: that of particularly successful collaborations with designers, architects and watchmakers in order to offer very limited special editions. The pieces produced in partnership with Alain Silberstein and Vianney Halter, for example, were a dazzling success and are now highly sought after by collectors around the world.

Since 1992, the factory has been located in Le Noirmont, in the heart of the Swiss Jura. It is this region that continues to inspire the watchmakers and designers of Louis Erard who strive to combine tradition and modernity while scrupulously respecting the standards and requirements of Swiss fine watchmaking.
